Frequently asked questions
How do I use /showlocation with Vector Assist?
Set your target deposit coordinates in Vector Assist, enable the clipboard bridge, then type /showlocation in Star Citizen chat. Your current position is forwarded to the tool so Vector Lock can point you toward the deposit.
What is the Windows companion?
The Blackwater Deck Companion is a small tray app for Windows. It watches your clipboard for /showlocation output and sends parsed coordinates to your Vector Assist browser tab over localhost while the bridge is enabled.
Does the companion send my clipboard data to Blackwater Deck?
No. The companion runs only on your PC and listens on localhost (127.0.0.1). It checks clipboard text for Star Citizen /showlocation coordinates (x, y, z) and ignores everything else — other copies are not logged or forwarded. When coordinates match, only the parsed x/y/z values are sent to your open Vector Assist tab in the browser over localhost. Nothing is uploaded to Deck servers, and raw clipboard text never leaves your machine.
Do I need Discord to use Vector Assist?
No. The standalone Vector Assist page is free and public. Discord sign-in is only required for the Operations Deck crew session features.
Does Vector Assist work on planetary surfaces?
Yes. Leave the body field empty for space deposits (Vector Lock radar). Select a moon or planet to switch to surface mode with compass-style heading on the ground.
Which moons and planets are supported for surface navigation?
Surface mode includes Stanton and Pyro bodies from the navigation catalog synced with the deck. Select your body from the list before setting coordinates so heading and distance use the correct planetary model.
Can I use the Windows companion on planetary routes?
Yes. The same companion forwards /showlocation clipboard data to Vector Assist when you enable the bridge on that page, for both space and surface targets.
